## What a U-Line repair costs in Miami, and what moves the number.

Every figure here is a starting point and a researched market range for South Florida rather than a quote. What changes it is whether the unit comes out of the joinery, whether it lives outdoors, whether the model is still made, and — on the big repairs — what the appliance is worth.

24 — jobs with a published starting figure

from $95 — diagnostic, credited to the repair

76 — models, and what yours is worth changes the answer

20 — of them no longer made, which changes it again

## A figure, and the four things that move it

Each page names its own factors rather than repeating a disclaimer. A row with no reasoning beside it would be a defect.

Nothing is listed here yet. Tell us what the appliance is doing and we will say what it usually turns into.

## Sometimes the honest answer is not to repair it.

U-Line publishes its current range between **$1,909 and $6,219**, and twenty of the seventy-six models in the catalog are out of production. Those two facts do most of the work in a repair-or-replace conversation, and we would rather have it before the work than after it.

A door seal, a sensor, a switch or a valve is easy arithmetic on any of these cabinets. A compressor on a fifteen-inch beverage center is most of a new appliance, and quoting it without saying so would be selling you the wrong thing. On a dual-zone wine cooler the same repair is usually right. Which one this is depends on the cabinet, and you will hear our view of it.

## On this make there is genuinely nothing to read out.

On a brand that puts a decoded number on the display, a phone call narrows a repair to two or three possibilities before anybody drives anywhere. U-Line writes the opposite in every manual: all errors are logged in memory, and only the door error is displayed and has an audible signal.

So the narrowing happens on site, with the service log read and a measurement taken, and the figures on these pages are where that visit starts rather than where it ends. The diagnostic comes off the bill when you go ahead — and when the answer is “this is showroom mode”, it is a short visit and we would rather that were the outcome than an expensive one.

## Four things, on almost every job

Access

- Whether the unit has to come out of the joinery to be worked on.
- Whether it carries your own cabinet front, which is joinery work.
- Whether it is indoors, outdoors, or on a boat.

The machine

- Which collection — the 5 Class runs a variable-speed compressor.
- Whether the model is still in production; twenty of seventy-six are not.
- Single zone or dual zone, on wine and beverage cabinets.

What the diagnosis finds

- A driver board and a compressor are different bills for one symptom.
- A kinked drain hose and a failed drain pump look identical from outside.
- A corroded connector and a failed sensor read the same on a display.

## Every job, in full

Each cost page is paired with a service page that says what the work actually involves. Two questions about one job.

## A figure for anything we do, whether or not it has a page.

Twenty-four jobs have a page here because they are the ones people ask about. If what you need is not among them, ask — you will get a starting figure and the reasons behind it in the same form as everything above, and the diagnostic still comes off the bill when you go ahead.

## The questions this page is asked

Is the diagnostic fee credited toward the repair? — Yes. It starts at $95 and comes off the bill when you go ahead. If you decide not to, you pay the diagnostic and nothing else.

Why a range instead of a price? — Because one number over the phone is either a guess or a ceiling, and both are worse for you than a starting figure with the reasons attached. What you get before anything is opened is not a range — it is a written scope and a written price for your appliance.

Where do these figures come from? — Researched market ranges for South Florida — aggregator bands for the same parts and the same labor, narrowed by what the part actually is on this equipment and by what the installation does to the time. They are not an average of our invoices and we do not present them as one. The reasoning behind every row is written down.

My unit is fifteen years old. Is it worth it? — Often yes for anything that is not the sealed system. Parts availability is the real question on the twenty out-of-production models, and it is worth establishing before the work rather than during it. We will tell you when the answer is no.

Do you charge more for outdoor units? — The outdoor service row is priced above the indoor condenser one because it is more work — salt corrodes the fixings around a repair as well as the coil, and the Marine models are on boats. Ordinary repairs on an outdoor unit are priced the same as indoors plus whatever the access actually costs.

## How these figures are set, and what they are not

Every number on this site is a **from**. There is no final price published anywhere, because a final price given before anybody has seen the appliance is either a guess or a ceiling — and on this make, where the error log is invisible from the kitchen, it would be a guess with less information behind it than usual.

The figures are researched market ranges for South Florida rather than an average of our own invoices, and we say so rather than implying a job history we have not published. Each is narrowed by what the part actually is on this equipment: a thermistor is inexpensive and the figure is access and verification; a control board is the expensive part and the maker’s own manual says it is rarely the cause; an auger on a nugget machine is a driven component with a gearbox behind it and is priced accordingly.

Three things about U-Line move figures more than the badge does. Almost everything is built in, so access is real time on most jobs and it is quoted rather than absorbed. Twenty-six of the seventy-six models live outdoors, where salt makes a straightforward repair twice the job. And sixteen of them are plumbed in both directions, which brings inlet valves, drain pumps and scale into a catalog that would otherwise be pure refrigeration.

The exact cost is confirmed on site after the diagnostic and agreed in writing before anything is opened. Nothing gets opened on a spoken price.

## Get a real figure for your appliance.

The model number, what it is doing, and whether it is built in. The diagnostic comes off the bill when you go ahead.
