# U-Line thermistor and temperature sensor replacement

The log says which sensor, and that saves the guessing

E1, E2, E5 and E6 name the sensor and whether it has gone open or short. The cabinet sensor and the evaporator sensor produce different symptoms, and the log tells them apart before anything is opened.

Measured, not assumed

The maker publishes the number: about 16.1k ohms in an ice-water bath, within five percent. A sensor that reads right is a sensor that stays in, and that is a cheaper visit than one that ends in a part nobody needed.

The connection is checked as carefully as the part

U-Line puts dielectric grease on every thermistor connection at the factory, and says why: a corroded connection changes the reading on its way to the board. A sensor replaced into a dirty connector fails the same way again.

Then the cabinet is proved, not declared fixed

A bottle of water and a thermometer, twenty-four hours, door closed. It is the maker's own method and it is the only reading that settles whether the cabinet now holds its set point.
