# U-Line it is freezing what is inside it

### Check the set point before anything else

It is the maker's own first answer for frozen product: the control is set too cold. On a cabinet with a UI that is easy to nudge, and in a household where somebody has been adjusting it, this is worth ruling out before a technician is called.

### Too cold is a failure too

Frozen cans and slushy bottles get reported less often than a warm cabinet and are just as much a symptom. On this control the list is short, and the first item on it is not a failure at all: somebody has adjusted the set point, or the panel was unlocked and got leaned on.

### When it is the sensor

A thermistor that has gone open stops answering and the control knows. A thermistor that has gone short answers wrongly, and a control acting on a wrong reading will happily overcool a cabinet all week. U-Line logs those separately, as E5 and E6, which is why reading the log is worth more here than guessing.

The set point

Adjusted down by somebody, or by accident on an unlocked panel. Free to check and free to fix.

A shorted sensor reads out of range, and a control acting on a wrong reading will overcool. The maker logs it as E5 or E6.

Loading against the cold wall

In a fifteen-inch cabinet, product pressed against the evaporator wall freezes while the rest of the cabinet is right. It looks like a control problem and is not.

Defrost not running

Interval and duration are settings. A cabinet that never defrosts builds ice on the wall and freezes what is against it.

Read the set point

Move things away from the back wall

Measure in the middle of the cabinet

### Only the cans at the back freeze.

That is loading rather than the control. The coldest surface in a small cabinet is the evaporator wall, and anything pressed against it will freeze while the middle of the cabinet is correct.

### Can I just set it warmer?

As a workaround, yes, and if that fixes it the set point was the problem. If you have to keep raising it to stop things freezing, the control is not reading the cabinet correctly and that is worth a look.
