### Look at the shape of the ice before anything else

### We only use it at weekends. Is that the problem?

It can be the whole problem. A storage bin is insulated, not refrigerated. Ice sitting in it for days melts a little and refreezes, and after a couple of cycles it is one lump.

### Should I chip it out?

Not with anything metal, and not around the mold or the auger. Switch the machine off, let it stand, and let the ice release itself. A cracked mold or a bent auger is a much larger bill than the one you started with.
