# U-Line wine cooler will not turn on

### Put your hand inside before anything else

If the cabinet is cold, the appliance is running and the display is the only thing that has stopped — which is Sabbath mode until proven otherwise. If the cabinet is at room temperature and nothing responds, it is a power question and the maker publishes the order to work through.

### Most dark displays are working appliances

U-Line’s Sabbath mode blanks the display and the cabinet lights and leaves the refrigeration running, and on the current controls it silences every alarm as well. It is enabled by holding one button. A cabinet in it is indistinguishable from a dead one until you open the door and feel the air.

### And when it is genuinely dead

The maker publishes the order: the wall outlet, then the control’s voltage input, then fuse F1, then a test display. A fuse is a fraction of a board and it is third on that list for a reason.

Sabbath mode

Display and cabinet lights dark, unit running, alarms inactive. Hold the light key for five seconds on the older controls, any control button for three on the current ones.

The control panel locked

A padlock icon and a five-second hold. Nothing is wrong with the appliance.

Power at the outlet or the cord

The maker's own first two checks, and on a built-in unit the outlet is behind the appliance where nobody has looked at it in years.

Fuse F1 on the main control

Third in the maker's own sequence, and a fuse rather than a board.

Hold a control button for a few seconds

Five on the older controls, three on the current ones, and the display comes back if that was it.

Then start at the breaker and the outlet. These cabinets are on ordinary circuits and a built-in appliance is the last thing anybody checks after an outage.

### Does it need resetting after a power cut?

No. It should come back on its own. If it does not, that is a real problem rather than something a sequence of button presses will fix.
