    Work out which sound it is

    The manual lists what is normal: a compressor hum, refrigerant that sounds like boiling liquid through the evaporator, air through the condenser, water dripping into the drain pan during defrost. Several service calls end here, and honestly.

  2. 02

    Then the two documented causes

    Tubing touching the cabinet is repositioned carefully. A fan blade obstruction is removed. Between them they account for most of what is left.

    Then the fan itself

    A motor with a worn bearing gets louder over months and is loudest when the unit has just started. Its on and off delays are also settings in the service menu, which is worth knowing before a motor is condemned.

    And the installation

    Hard floors and cabinetry reflect appliance noise, which the manual says outright. A unit that is not level does more of it.
