U-Line diagnostic visit
We find out what is actually wrong before anybody quotes a part. On a U-Line that starts with a question most visits skip: is the appliance reporting a problem, or is it in a mode somebody enabled by accident? A unit that lights up and will not cool is showroom mode as often as it is a sealed system, and the two are not the same conversation. The fee is credited toward the work when you go ahead.

The modes ruled out first, because they are free
Showroom mode lights the display and stops the cooling. Sabbath mode blanks the display and keeps everything running. A UI lock makes a working panel look dead. All three are two keys and five seconds, and all three arrive here as failures.

The error log read out of the service menu
U-Line logs its errors in memory and shows only the door error on the display. So the numbers exist and nobody at home can see them: a hidden key held for ten seconds, then the log option, and the errors scroll in the order they happened.

The plate, and whether the board agrees with it
Model and serial are on the upper right or rear wall inside. The control also carries a two-digit model number of its own, and a board programmed to the wrong machine runs the wrong defrost interval — worth checking on any unit that has had a board before.
