What to do about it
- Put your hand inside. If the cabinet is cold, the appliance is running and this is a mode rather than a failure.
- On the older controls, hold the light key for five seconds to leave the mode. On the current ones, hold any of the four control buttons or the power button for three seconds.
- Remember that the alarms are off in this mode. A door left open in Sabbath mode will not beep, which is worth knowing before deciding the alarm is broken.
- If the display is dark AND the cabinet is not cold, this is not Sabbath mode and the next place to look is power — the maker's own flow chart starts at the wall outlet, then the main control's voltage input, then fuse F1.
