What we can confirm
Code The degree symbol flashes, the light works, and nothing gets cold, from the manufacturer's own documentation
This code has no number, because this equipment has no display to put one on. The appliance signals it instead — an alarm, a symbol or a pattern of lights — and what it means is recorded in the documentation that ships with it.
The code
The degree symbol flashes, the light works, and nothing gets cold
This is a mode, not a failure, and it is the most expensive misdiagnosis on this make. Showroom mode exists so a dealer can stand a unit on a floor and demonstrate it without running the refrigeration. The maker's own description: the degree symbol will flash, the display will be lit and the interior light will function — and the unit will not cool. Compressor, fans, everything, off. It reads exactly like a dead sealed system, and it is two keys held for five seconds.

On this make a code belongs to the appliance rather than to a product line. These are the other conditions this machine can display, and the models that can show this one — a display often has more than one thing to say, and the model number decides what any of it costs to put right.

About U-Line: The display works, the light works, and the unit will not cool
What the appliance is actually doing
This is a mode, not a failure, and it is the most expensive misdiagnosis on this make. Showroom mode exists so a dealer can stand a unit on a floor and demonstrate it without running the refrigeration. The maker's own description: the degree symbol will flash, the display will be lit and the interior light will function — and the unit will not cool. Compressor, fans, everything, off. It reads exactly like a dead sealed system, and it is two keys held for five seconds.
Quoted rather than interpreted
The ºF / ºC symbol will flash. Display will be lit and interior light will function. Unit will not cool. Repeat command to return to normal operation.
From CONTROL FUNCTION GUIDE, in a User Guide & Service Manual downloaded from U-Line's own site. Nothing on this page is decoded beyond what that sentence says.
What to do about it
- Look at the degree symbol. If it is flashing rather than steady, this is the answer and there is nothing wrong with the appliance.
- Hold the light key and the power key together for five seconds. The display flashes once and beeps, and the unit returns to normal operation. The same pair puts it back.
- If the symbol is steady and the unit still will not cool, this is not showroom mode. The 2000 Series manual's next line is to interrupt power to the unit momentarily; after that it is a real diagnosis and worth a visit.
- Worth knowing when a unit is new or has just been moved. Floor models get sold, and a unit that arrives from a showroom arrives in showroom mode.
Where this goes next
The job this usually becomes is diagnostic visit, and every one of those pages carries a starting figure and the reasons that move it. If it turns out to be nothing — and on this make a real share of these are modes rather than problems — the visit ends there and you pay the diagnostic and nothing else, or call (305) 851-2207 and describe what the display is doing before booking anything.
Before u line refrigerator not cooling becomes a sealed-system quote, this is the thing to rule out, and it costs nothing to rule out.
