Where this number actually lives
Not on your display. Every U-Line manual that carries a code table says the same sentence: all errors are logged in memory, and only the door error is displayed and has an audible signal. So unless this is a door, you will not see it — it is in an error log reached by holding a hidden key for ten seconds and scrolling to the log option. That is worth knowing before you spend an evening looking for a number the appliance was never going to show you.
What to do about it
- Establish whether this unit has a drain pump at all. An ice machine installed where there is no gravity drain has one; an undercounter refrigerator almost never does.
- If it has one, the pump is what removes melt water, so the symptom that arrives with P1 is water — standing in the bin, on the floor under the unit, or backing up.
- Check the drain hose before the pump. The maker warns in the installation section that the hose must not be pulled or bent, and a kinked hose behind a built-in unit looks exactly like a failed pump.
- Ask for the error log to be read. On this make the numbers live in the control's service menu — a hidden key held for ten seconds, then option 14 on the older boards and option 21 on the current ones — and the log scrolls the errors in the order they happened.
